April 29, 2016

HTC announced a US$100 million Vive X VR (Virtual Reality) accelerator program, which will kick off first in Beijing, Taipei, and San Francisco before expanding to more cities around the world, reported Economic Daily News on April 27. This program will offer VR startups (ranging from content and tools to applications and hardware) funding opportunities, HTC VR engineering team's know-how, and mentorship, together with education, networking, and supporting services. Meanwhile, in order to grow the global VR ecosystem at a faster pace, HTC also forged a VR alliance, dubbed APVRA (Asia Pacific Virtual Reality Alliance), in Beijing with a number of partners, including Valve, Warner Brothers, Alibaba, NVIDIA, AMD, iQIYI, Shunwang Tech, Youku, and Ubisoft.
